Since publishing my article on the Natural Cure for Hemorrhoids I thought it would be helpful to provide an overview of the various types of hemorrhoids treatments.  The best cure for hemorrhoids for You, largely depends on your symptoms and the type of hemorrhoids you are suffering from.  For me, the Hemorrhoid No More treatment really did the trick!  It gave me a number of remedies that treated my symptoms and also guided me through the lifestyle changes I needed to adopt that enabled me to get rid of my hemorrhoids for good.

But everyone is different and I want you to know there are various options available to you.  So here are some of the different hemorrhoids treatments that are available, from simple home remedies to more invasive surgical procedures:

Natural and Herbal Remedies

Nature probably has an answer for just about everything and in case of hemorrhoids, natural remedies can work wonders.  Here are a few more of the best natural cure for hemorrhoids:

  • Neem or Azadirachta Indica – Neem is a powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory agent that can provide quick relief from hemorrhoids.  It can be applied topically to the hemorrhoids and to he anal region by making a paste of Neem leaves.  Or it can be consumed in the form of Neem juice.
  • White Oak Bark – This is an effective herbal cure for hemorrhoids.  It works by strengthening the rectal veins, reducing inflammation and detoxifying your system.  Boil a teaspoon of bark extract in one cup of water and drink this mixture twice a day, till your hemorrhoids are completely healed.  Oak bark suppositories can also be inserted into the rectum for fast relief.
  • Psyllium – Psyllium husk fiber is a natural laxative that bulks up the stool and aids a smooth bowel movement.  It also has anti-inflammatory properties which eases the pain and inflammation associated with hemorrhoids.  Psyllium husk is available in powdered form as well as in the form of capsules, which should be taken with a glass of milk or warm water.
  • Fiber-rich Diet – Constipation is the number one cause of hemorrhoids and will aggravate them, causing an increase in swelling and pain.  Certain stool softeners or natural laxatives such as Aloe Vera, flax seeds and prune juice can make passage of stool much easier.  Also fibrous foods such as cabbage, kidney beans, papaya, wheat brain, Quinoa, can help restore normal bowel movement.

Lifestyle Modifications

No matter how severe or mild your symptoms, one of the best cures for hemorrhoids is physical activity.  Exercising can strengthen your anal/rectal veins, alleviate pain and prevent constipation.  In addition, there are a number of other lifestyle changes that you need to consider that will help prevent hemorrhoids:

  • Do not delay going to the bathroom  – if you have to “go”, then “go”!
  • Avoid extremely spicy and oily foods
  • Remain active
  • Avoid getting constipated by changing to fiber-rich diet
  • Do not sit for long durations without taking a break and moving around
  • Maintain proper hygiene – if you are suffering with hemorrhoids, use hemorrhoids wipes instead of toilet paper.

Medical & Surgical Cure for Hemorrhoids

There are a variety of over-the-counter medications that can work effectively in dealing with the various symptoms of hemorrhoids.  Analgesics, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs and even corticosteroids (for topical application) can provide quick relief from the discomfort and pain associated with hemorrhoids.

Unfortunately there are some cases where the bleeding or inflammation does not respond to hemorrhoids treatment and it may become necessary to go down the surgical route.  The aim of these surgical procedures is either cut off the blood supply to the hemorrhoidal vein, causing the hemorrhoid to shrink and fall off, or the removal of the hemorrhoid.

Some of these procedures are:

  • Rubber band ligation
  • Sclerotherapy or Injection Therapy
  • Laser or Infrared Coagulation
  • Cryosurgery or Freezing Method
  • Electrocautery.

For large external hemorrhoids and bleeding hemorrhoids, there are a number of different surgical procedures, two these are:

  • Hemorrhoidectomy
  • Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy.

These surgical procedures should provide a permanent cure for hemorrhoids and provide immediate relief from the various painful symptoms associated with this disorder.  However, in some instances it has been known for individuals to need more than one course of surgical treatment.  It should also be noted that some of these procedures entail a painful recovery period that can last for several weeks.  If your doctor is recommending surgery, ask about the various alternatives, how long (realistically) are the recovery periods, what are the risks and what is the likelihood of another operation being necessary.

Conclusion

Whether you choose to treat your hemorrhoids naturally, with medications or through surgery, the importance of a healthy diet and active lifestyle cannot be ignored in treating and preventing this condition.  The best cure for hemorrhoids is the one that works for you and allows you to live a productive and healthy life.  By treating the symptoms at an early stage, hopefully you will never have to consider the surgical option.  The story of how I came across the cure for hemorrhoids that worked for me is on the front page of this blog.
